Psalm 50:14-15

Offer to God Thanksgiving and pay your vows to the most high.
Call upon me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me. We owe God Thanksgiving before we Call on him in our troubles. We should have only once source for help...the most high. He is higher in thoughts than we are, he is greater in creativity than we are. He has unending resources to solve trouble. He has wisdom to know what should be done and when it should be done, and how and why, and where.
Our submission to his plan begins with thanking him for all his faithfulness in the past. Stirring our hearts away from our own solutions begins with surrendering praise to his greatness...not ours.
